Silverkey Tech Interview..

Alsalam alikom wa ra7mat allah wa barakatoh

On Sunday 18th, I had an Exam at Slikverkey Tech...
Let's get back to Sun 18th,
Mama, my sis & I went together to Dokky Square (which was so far), after searching for some time (maybe 20 minutes) we reached to the desired place... but it was still so early.. we reached at about 3:00pm & my interview (as I thought it was) was on 4:00pm..

minutes passed, a colleague in 1st year (whom I don't know) came and said
Him : Alsalam alikom, r u in Ain Shams or Cairo Uni ?
Me : Ain Shams, yes..
Him : U r the ACM, right ? I mean u r in a position there, right ?
Me : U can say so.
Him : I'm Saleh in 1st year..
Me : oh, gr8... How r u ? Silverkey too ?
Him : al 7amd lellah, yes.. U?
Me : yes..
and we spoke a little bit......................

then he left..
Minutes later, I went to the building, and met some one who was wearing a suit too so I expected he is coming for the interview.. I said "Silverkey ?", he smiled and said "yea,.."
I knew later that he was coming to work not to train but he had the same exam ;)..

We billed the bill, and a Chinease (maybe Jabanease) man open it, I said " we r supposed to have an interview today. ", so he replied "oh sure, come in.." then he ran to call Ms.Alya (or Ms.High as we call her in our conversations ;) ), a minute or so later, she came welcomed us, and guided us to the room where we will have our interview..
then the shock, we found 4 guys setting down, staring in 10-paper sheets, and writing.. she said, "u will have an exam, u have two hours to finish, I'll record the time u started the exam in.. don't worry, u don't have to solve everything, just solve what u can, solve it well"

we started, the exam was good -at least in my opinion-, DB, C#, ASP.NET, Design Patterns, Data Structure.. it covered most topics they would need in a good developer..

so, 2 hours later, I finished, went down to my mom and sis, we left..

Next day we repeated this trip again but in a shorter way.. cuz it was my sis's exam..
we went there early again (only 30 minutes early :D), she entered, 2 hours later, she went down, we left... and just forgot Silverkey.. till about 3-5 days later, when people started to ask "did u receive a call from Silverkey ?" and such questions..

Today (the day is written down there if u care) I received a call from Ms.Alya, she was funny this time (she was not serious before.. but not funny too),
Her : "how r u haytham ?"
Me : "Fine thanks allah, U?"
Her : "fine too, thanks, and how abour ur latest news ?"
Me : "mm, fine thanks allah, Urs?" // Endless loop..
Her : "Fine too, thanks, and r u fine and happy in ur life ?"
Me : "Thanks allah, I'm just fine.." // No end loop..
Her : "gr8, r u free on Thursday at 1:00pm?"
Me : "mmmmm, sure.."
Her : "so u r free on Thursday at 1:00pm?" // She seems sick anyway :D
Me : "yes, this is just suitable"
Her : "ok, then let's make ur second interview on that time.., Congratulations, u've been chosen for the second interview .. "
Me : "oh, gr8.. thanks"
Her : "so, see u on Thursday at 1:00pm.."
Me : "In Shaa Allah, C u.."
Her : "bye"
Me : "al salam alikom wa ra7mat allah wa barakatoh"

Long conversation, not a lot of info though..

I'm going to post about that interview soon In Shaa Allah..

good luck nobody... hope u the best..

Windows7 adds Math Input Panel

Alsalam alikom wa ra7mat Allah wa barakatoh… I was reading a windows team post about Input Panels improvements in Windows7 [ here ]. When at the end I saw a very interesting –intuitive if you wish- new thing… which is, as you guessed, the Math Input Panel… Yes, that crappy font is mine… I “drew” that by mouse as I don’t have a tablet pen/pc. You can then paste it directly into word and it’ll recognize it as an editable equation… During my tests, the output panel (the top part) hanged, but I liked that the drawing panel was still responsive and I could still write/erase… till the top one started to respond again… One other thing to know, after you click Insert (that button down there) it copies the equation in MathML [ Wikipedia link ] format.. which is a standard way of representing equations and hence any application that recognizes the format can insert it not as an image but as a nice editable equation… If you think it recognized something wrong, you can click “Sele

Visual Studio 2008 Not saving changes or project properties?

Alsalam alikom wa ra7mat Allah wa barakatoh (Peace upon you) I’ve recently ran into problems with VS 2008. Summarized here: When you try to edit the project properties (specially C++ projects) you are faced with a little nice message saying “Exception from HRESULT: 0xF9F0F308”. Sometimes when you are editing a file (specially large ones), VS doesn’t recognize you’ve made changes (ie doesn’t display that ‘*’ in the files tabs) hence, when you save, nothing actually gets saved. For those 2 problems, a friend explained the problem and a work around (till they officially release a fix)… Open up a Visual Studio 2008 Command Prompt Run cd "C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio 9.0\Common7\IDE" Make a backup copy of devenv.exe in case something does not work right. ie. copy devenv.exe devenv.exe.bak Run editbin /largeaddressaware:no devenv.exe Happy VSing… :)
