Kuwait Series...1

Alsalam alikom wa ra7mat allah wa barkatoh

I'm writing this series to keep them for later reading.... ISA.

Let's get back mmm some months ago..

Today, Abdalla asked us to prepare the passports, and told us all papers (as he remembers) that we will need to do so..
Of course, this-as expected- will be a long loop... that hopefully will end up having passports to send to Kuwait Uni to get Visas.

Anyway, we started the 1mile road, Papa-JAK- made all my papers, and I went one day after the college to the nearest PoliceOffice to my house, My first impression was mm so bad, no one is on their seat, acctually there were no one in the office except the cleaners although it was not their leaving time (acctually 3 hours before their leaving time), then after some time (about 30 minutes) one of those kings appeared in the sight... it seemed he was having his lunch... anyway.. he sat down started taking request by request, refused most of the requests.. then came my time, refused it -as usual- cuz I had bear and my photo didn't, I told him then what is the problem about that.... he said "u MAY have troubles at the airport".. hah.. I said "I'll have no bear by then.. nvm.. thanks for caring", he said "I can't let u do that..."... again I said "what is the problem, when I go to airport I'll be without a bear, or even if i was with a bear, I will have the troubles not u..", he began to get nervous -me too-, and said "Ur personal photo must match ur current state", I replied "If my dad came and requested my passport, U will have no way to check my current state"... he began to be more nervous, and began to repeat his words again and again... I just fed up and left... and I did it, dad came the next day and made the passport and I was still with a bear.. Just ROUTINE...

Anyway, thanks Allah, now I've the passport, acctually all of us have them, I collected them to scan and send to Kuwait Uni..

It's now few days before the supposed traveling date, we received our Visas, except for our Dean and Kamal, they said "there r problems concerning out phone billing system, it showed they -the dean and kamal- didn't pay their bills when they were hear last time" :D nice reason :D... we really laughed.. anyway..

Today is the day before traveling, we went to the reservation office right before they close their doors.. I remember there were (Mustafa & Me) as far as I remember, we tried to pay but we had troubles convincing them to accept the discount made for our college as the discount request paper was still with Abdalla -who didn't come till now- we tried to convince them to stay open till he comes..... e7l he came mm 3 minute after the proposed close time for the office... we started the reservation process... then we found some one knocking the closed door, it was our Dean, he came to check that everything is going fine...

We r ready now to travel -our Dean will catch us later when he receive his Visa-.... the flight day was another day so let's talk about it in another post...

C u soon ISA..

Windows7 adds Math Input Panel

Alsalam alikom wa ra7mat Allah wa barakatoh… I was reading a windows team post about Input Panels improvements in Windows7 [ here ]. When at the end I saw a very interesting –intuitive if you wish- new thing… which is, as you guessed, the Math Input Panel… Yes, that crappy font is mine… I “drew” that by mouse as I don’t have a tablet pen/pc. You can then paste it directly into word and it’ll recognize it as an editable equation… During my tests, the output panel (the top part) hanged, but I liked that the drawing panel was still responsive and I could still write/erase… till the top one started to respond again… One other thing to know, after you click Insert (that button down there) it copies the equation in MathML [ Wikipedia link ] format.. which is a standard way of representing equations and hence any application that recognizes the format can insert it not as an image but as a nice editable equation… If you think it recognized something wrong, you can click “Sele

Visual Studio 2008 Not saving changes or project properties?

Alsalam alikom wa ra7mat Allah wa barakatoh (Peace upon you) I’ve recently ran into problems with VS 2008. Summarized here: When you try to edit the project properties (specially C++ projects) you are faced with a little nice message saying “Exception from HRESULT: 0xF9F0F308”. Sometimes when you are editing a file (specially large ones), VS doesn’t recognize you’ve made changes (ie doesn’t display that ‘*’ in the files tabs) hence, when you save, nothing actually gets saved. For those 2 problems, a friend explained the problem and a work around (till they officially release a fix)… Open up a Visual Studio 2008 Command Prompt Run cd "C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio 9.0\Common7\IDE" Make a backup copy of devenv.exe in case something does not work right. ie. copy devenv.exe devenv.exe.bak Run editbin /largeaddressaware:no devenv.exe Happy VSing… :)
